If you are moving to the Netherlands for the first time and will stay longer than four months, you register in the Personal Records Database and receive your citizen service number, the BSN. Staying for less than four months? Then you can request a BSN through the Non-residents Records Database instead. Bring a valid passport, and a rental or purchase contract for your new address. If you are moving in with someone, you also need a signed consent form from the main occupant with a copy of their ID.
In The Hague you arrange this online with DigiD, at a district office by appointment, or by post.
